What is your role at MUMC?

As Director of Children’s Ministries I coordinate Christian education for babies through fifth graders. Areas include Nursery, Sunday School, Children’s Worship, Friendship Connection, and Tuesday Tutoring. This is done with the help of great colleagues, an active Children’s Ministries Team, and a host of volunteers. The mission of the Children’s Ministries Team is to support families with children in creating lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of the church?

I absolutely love to read…even the cereal box if nothing else is handy. In the winter you will find me knitting, crocheting, or sewing. In warmer weather I enjoy boating and (fortunately) mowing. My husband and I like to work on our home and always have repairs, projects, or yard work. Antique auctions are fun too! During the school year I co-lead a middle school girls’ bible study and in the summer the senior high lets me go to camp with them. We have a new puppy who is keeping us very busy right now.

What does your family life look like?

I am married to my best friend, Don who is a pharmacist at Kroger and a jack-of-all-trades at home. We are blessed with two children. Both work at Purdue: Adam is a computer developer for the College of Agriculture and Ashley is the academic program administrator in the School of Nuclear Engineering. Don and I learned a lot about parenting by spending time with Christian families and going to Worship, Sunday School, and small group bible studies. Being active in church activities helped us raise our children with the support of a church family and provided them with a network of great friends.
