At Monticello United Methodist Church, or MUMC, we believe worship should meet you right where you are. That’s why we offer several distinct ways to gather—each with its own personality, but all centered on the same hope, the same gospel, and the same desire to grow together in Christ. Whether you connect best through hymns and tradition, modern worship, meaningful conversation online, or a summertime service under the open sky, there’s a place for you here. Come worship with us in the style that fits your rhythm and your season of life—every service is designed to help you encounter Jesus in a genuine, welcoming way.
The Classic is our 9:30am service. The Classic is focused on tradition, and here you can expect to hear Hymns and Choir Anthems most Sundays. There is also a commitment to liturgy, where we recite a Call to Worship and Affirmation of Faith often to remind us of our historic faith.
Worship Style:
The Classic starts off with a thought provoking question which helps us center ourselves on hearing from God during the service. We sing hymns from the United Methodist Hymnal and our Chancel Choir sings anthems that draw us deeper into God’s presence. We even have a Bell Choir whose pieces remind us of God’s faithfulness. Though we stick to our tradition in The Classic, we also know that God has not and will never stop working in our midst.
What to Wear:
The Classic sees people in full suits and those who come in a tshirt and jeans. A business casual approach would always find you dressed appropriately, but we truly welcome anyone regardless of their fashion choices on a given Sunday.
Can my kids come?
Yes! Children begin the service by sitting with the grown ups that brought them, and then are invited to the front for a Message for All Ages. Afterwards, we invite kids to either attend our Adventures in Faith Sunday School classes which happen each Sunday, or they can stay in the Sanctuary with you and worship alongside you.
Can I check it out online first?
The Classic is live streamed every Sunday, and you can find past livestreams on our Facebook page or YouTube Channel.
The Current is our 11:00am service and gets its name from the focus on modern worship.
Worship Style:
On a given Sunday you will walk into a full band playing worship songs from Elevation, Belonging Co., and many more that you have probably heard on Christian radio. However, we are also always willing to change things up with a dramatic reading, a service in the round, or some liturgy. These are all focused on bringing us into a deeper worship of and relationship with Christ.
What to Wear:
Clothes! Honestly, The Current will have people in sports jerseys, some in polos, shorts in the summer, and parkas in the winter. Come in whatever makes you comfortable!
Can my kids come?
Yes! We invite kids to either attend our Adventures in Faith Sunday School classes which happen each Sunday, or they can stay in Connection Court with you and worship alongside you. We have tables in the back for families and we have activity books so your kids can draw, color, and play while still being in worship.

The Current is live streamed every Sunday, and you can find past livestreams on our Facebook page or YouTube Channel.
The Couch is our online-only worship experience that is streamed live on Wednesday nights at 7pm EST.
What to Expect
The Couch is all about engagement, and the best way for you to get involved is to comment in the chat. We will be praying together, learning together, and you ACTUALLY GET TO ASK QUESTIONS! You don’t have to just sit and listen, ask the questions you have always wondered about and we will try to get to as many of them as possible. The Couch is driven by you, and the messages are geared towards us learning to love God and love each other better.
What to Wear:
You do you. We can’t see you!
Can my kids come?
The Couch is family friendly, but because it is about engagement and answering questions we cannot say that the topic won’t get deeper or serious.
Where can I view The Couch?
There are three spots you can join us:
The Drive In is a unique worship experience that takes place at 8:30 a.m. at the Lake Shore Drive In between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The Drive In has hymns, but also special music that ranges from contemporary worship to choir solos.
Worship Style:
The Drive In starts off with an invocation of the Spirit and then goes into Hymns that you get to sing along with in your car, where no one can hear you and you can belt! We also have special music which comes in a variety of ways.
What to Wear:
The tag line for the Drive In is “Come as you are, worship in your car”. Come in your pajamas, come dressed and ready for the lake, as long as you’re clothed you’re good!
Can my kids come?
Yes! The Drive In allows you to sit in the car with your kids. They can have breakfast and join in worship at the same time! Also, if they are fidgeting you can let them play in the car.
Can I check it out online first?
This is the only service we have that is completely offline.
